BIO - TOM LOUGTON
L4 Senior Performance Coach
As a Junior, Tom played to a high level, winning County Titles in Singles and Doubles at all age groups; he also represented Great Britain at U14 and U16. Tom began his coaching journey as a Tennis Assistant at Nuffield Health Tennis Academy in Hull in 2005 whilst studying for a degree in Business & Management. In 2006 Tom took on an enhanced role at the Academy whilst still continuing with his studies.
From 2006 to 2012 Tom was Assistant Performance Coach at Nuffield Health Tennis Academy in Hull. His responsibilities included individual and group coaching within the Mini-Tennis and Mini-Tennis Performance Programmes; group coaching and individual lessons with County & Regional Level Players; providing hitting and assisting with coaching National & International Level Players. As part of his role Tom travelled with aspiring players, notably Kyle Edmund (2007-2008) and Paul Jubb (2006-2017).
Nuffield Health Tennis Academy’s success from 2006 to 2012 resulted in a number of players being selected to represent Great Britain and the Academy being awarded HPC (High Performance Centre) Status. In 2012 Tom was appointed as Head Coach at the Nuffield Tennis Academy, Hull. He was responsible for running and delivering the Performance Programme and working with the Academy's elite players. During his time at Hull the Academy retained its HPC status, with LTA grant-funded status until 2018. The Academy produced National Champions in both Singles and Doubles, with four players representing Great Britain at U14 and U12. In 2017 Tom took on extra responsibility to become the Tennis Manager for the Tennis programme. This role involved managing the team of coaches, taking charge of the Academy budget, and dealing with tennis-related matters at the Academy.
In September 2018 Tom furthered his coaching career by joining the team at Bolton RPDC as a Senior Performance Coach, delivering across all aspects of the programme from Mini-Tennis through to International Level Players. In addition to his full-time coaching commitments, Tom has also been heavily involved in Yorkshire Tennis since 2010. He has Captained numerous County Teams, winning the National Title with the U12 Boys in 2012 & 2019. He continues to deliver on the wider County Training Programme across numerous age groups.
Tom joined the Cultiv8 Coaching Team in September 2019 as a Senior Performance Coach. He is a great asset to the team and brings with him extensive knowledge and experience of working with players at all stages of the talent pathway.
